The price of .COM & .NET will be increased on July 1, 2010!

February 25th, 2010

Today we received word from our domain partner GoDaddy® that VeriSign® the registry for .COM and .NET domains will be increasing .COM domain registration prices by 7% and .NET domain registrations by 10%. Whether you dabble in domains here and there, own a couple for yourself, or are a big-time domain investor this price increase will effect you.

If you currently own .COM or .NET domains it would be wise to go out and renew them all prior to June 30th, 2010. After the price increase goes into effect you will be paying the increased prices to renew domains you already own as well as any new purchases.

What will this price increase do to the current domain market? At WebEstatePros.com we see this price increase as a very good thing not only for those of us who are domain investors, but for the every day domain buyer as well. The price increase will make it a lot more difficult for all of those domain hoarders out there to renew mass amounts of domains thus giving the true investors and every day buyers a much larger to selection to choose from when they go out in search of a new domain for their business or self.

As we wait for all of the previously hoarded domains to expire it may take a few years for the domain market to actually feel or see the full effects of this price increase, but increasingly from June 30th, 2010 we should see a steady increase of domains being released back into the market and available to the public.
